The R community tends update all their packages to the newest stable versions of R.

There may be a way to get them to work on older versions, but it probably involves version locking the packages in a way that I don't currently know about.

To put a 3.2.3 stable version of R onto Debian stable:

Add to etc/apt/sources.list: deb https://www.stats.bris.ac.uk/R/bin/linux/debian jessie-cran3

Run:

apt-key adv --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv-key 381BA480
